The United Health Foundation has pledged $1 million to provide urgent assistance to Los Angeles County residents experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was announced Friday. The partnership with the California Community Foundation’s COVID-19 LA County Response Fund is part of UnitedHealth Group’s previously announced initial $50 million commitment to fight COVID-19 and support those most directly impacted, including healthcare workers, hard-hit communities, seniors and people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity, the foundation said. The donation will support Los Angeles County clinics and hospitals that serve unsheltered residents and low-income individuals, triaging those who are sick or who have been exposed to the virus, and will assist housing providers and shelter operators who are responding to the increased demand for emergency services for the county’s homeless population, according to UnitedHealth.“The COVID-19 public health emergency has compounded the many challenges faced by Los Angeles County’s most vulnerable residents,” said Dr. Amar Desai, president and chief executive officer for Optum California, an integrated health system made up of medical groups and physician networks serving more than 1.4 million patients across Southern California.“This assistance will help support some of the hardest-hit members of our community, including those without reliable access to housing,” he said.UnitedHealth Group, including UnitedHealthcare, Optum and the United Health Foundation, has a history of addressing homelessness, a key determinant of health among vulnerable populations in California and across the country. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Q’FINAL*Pique charges teammates to kill off United’s comeback dreamOle Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed a charmed life as interim Manchester United manager but Barcelona’s visit to Old Trafford this evening will show him the scale of the task he faces as the new full time boss. The Norwegian was rewarded with a three-year deal after dramatically reviving United’s fortunes since taking caretaker charge in December, lifting them back into contention for a top-four place and transforming the mood at the club. The highlight of his reign so far was a dramatic 3-1 away victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 in the Champions League, which enabled United to overturn a 2-0 first-leg defeat to reach the quarterfinals on away goals.Solskjaer has given his creative players licence to attack, with Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford let off the leash to devastating effect. But some of the gloss has come off in recent weeks, with three defeats in four matches badly denting United’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League and dumping them out of the FA Cup.Solskjaer, who famously scored the winning goal for United against Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final in Barcelona, was upbeat after drawing the Spanish league leaders in the quarterfinals last month, before he was confirmed as the new long-term boss.“We want these games against the biggest clubs and the biggest teams. We had the final against them in 2009 and 2011 (both of which Barca won) and the semifinal in 2008 when Scholesy (Paul Scholes) scored,” Solskjaer said.“It’s these games our fans and this club crave. We are looking forward to this one.”Worryingly for Solskjaer, though, some of United’s familiar failings under Jose Mourinho have returned to haunt them in the weeks since the draw was made. They were unfortunate to lose at Arsenal but appeared short of inspiration in losing twice to Wolves in the FA Cup and Premier League, while even Solskjaer admitted they did not deserve their solitary win since he was given the permanent job as Watford enjoyed the better of the chances in a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.Solskjaer had a free ride when he took over from Mourinho, with morale at a low ebb and the club 11 points off the top four.Despite recent hiccups, he has had notable success in his short time at the club and ultimately has his sights set higher than finishing in the top four. The 46-year-old will probably be forgiven if United fall short against a Lionel Messi-inspired Barcelona. But if he fails to reverse the mini-slump and United suffer a heavy defeat to the Spanish champions there is a danger the season could peter out and momentum could be lost.Meanwhile, Gerard Pique has said that Barcelona must learn from last season’s Champions League collapse against Roma and be wary of Manchester United’s powers of recovery ahead of the clash.Defender Pique, who was part of the United squad that won the European Cup in 2008 before returning to Catalonia, was on the winning side as Barca beat United in Champions League finals in 2009 and 2011.“The game against PSG is a great example. They (PSG) were better, but you cannot let United off the hook because they have a great team and a great history as they showed in Paris,” Pique said on Tuesday.“We learned (from Roma) that things happen, even if it seemed unimaginable that they will.“We learned that you cannot let an opponent back into a tie if they are not killed off. That will help us for facing a team like United.“If at any point we can kill off the tie, we have to do it.”Tasked with derailing Barca’s bid for a third treble since 2009 and stopping an in-form Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, United will be cast in the role of underdog just as they were in the last round. The appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the new permanent manager of the English giants has coincided with a dip in form, with United losing three of their four games since winning in Paris.Share this:FacebookRedditTwitterPrintPinterestEmailWhatsAppSkypeLinkedInTumblrPocketTelegram

Embed from Getty ImagesAtletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has played down speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, suggesting he is not interested in playing in England.Chelsea have been linked with the France international during successive transfer windows and have again been tipped to move for him in the summer.Manchester United are also said to be keen to sign him, but Griezmann told French radio station RMC he would prefer to stay in Spain and that a move to England would not appeal. He said: “In Spain, Barcelona have Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, and a move to Real Madrid would be impossible because I play for Atletico.“Germany is not a league that appeals to me. France, not right now. As for England, I do watch the Premier League but I have doubts about the lifestyle. Rain, bad weather; I need to be happy off the pitch.“I like the style of play in England and that the referees let the game flow and the grounds are always full, but the Spanish league is better suited to my style of play.” Ads by Revcontent Trending Articles Urologists: Men, Forget the Blue Pill! Share Facebook Twitter Google + LinkedIn Pinterest Harvest has been going pretty well. We had one of our best days ever yesterday for bean harvest in terms of getting acres covered. We have around 85% of our beans off and we are on track to have at least our second best bean yield ever. It is quite surprising, actually. We were aggressive about going after the frogeye leaf spot and I think that really helped. Yields in this area are generally pretty good. When coupled with the decision of our co-ops to store wheat, we are hearing about a couple of our local elevators being full or close to full. Some of them are pouring into corn space, which could make harvest interesting for the folks who depend on taking corn to town.We are worried about overage on our seed bean and specialty contracts. Seed size has been consistently large. The lowest yield we cut was about 42 bushels on the lower quality ground and we cut some beans over 70 bushels. If you would have told me that we’d have this kind of year with beans I’d have told you that you were crazy.I do not expect the same for corn based on the hand samples we have pulled. If things go right we could start on corn as early as Wednesday or Thursday. We have a great forecast. I think the corn will be pretty dry and we shouldn’t be limited by dryer capacity.Sometimes you feel more like machine than human when you are trying to press across all of these acres. I love planting and harvest but by the time we get done, I am ready to be done.It seems like when you have good yields, you don’t have time to savor them because you are so busy. When you have bad crops you have plenty of time to sit there and dwell on it.
When shooting video or creating animations and motion graphics, motion blur is one of the fundamental elements that creates realism in an image. It’s also something that you can manipulate for creative purposes, so it’s important to understand how it works. Let’s take a closer look at this visual phenomena.Motion Blur ExplainedWhen viewing the world around you, you’ll naturally see a blur effect, as objects are moving past at a rapid pace. This is motion blur. When shooting video and photos, you control motion blur via the shutter speed or shutter angle of the camera. Both shutter speed and shutter angle control how much light connects with the sensor over a specific period of time. When you make adjustments to the shutter, you’ll change the look of your image.Of course, there are practices to help match the normal motion blur “look” achieved by the human eye. For shutter speed, simply double your frame rate and plug that number into the denominator of your shutter speed. For example, if I’m shooting at twenty-four frames per second, then I’ll use a 1/48 shutter speed (24fps x 2 = 48).We measure shutter angle in degrees, with 180 degrees being the standard (roughly equivalent to a shutter speed of 1/48 at 24fps). The higher you bring this number, the more motion blur you’ll introduce into your image. Bringing it lower will give you the opposite effect.Motion Blur in Post-ProductionWhen creating animations or working with motion graphics, you can simulate and make adjustments to motion blur. For example, in Adobe After Effects, it’s as simple as clicking a master motion blur button and then activating the blur for each individual layer. The advanced composition settings in AE give users even more control, allowing adjustments for shutter angle and a handful of other properties.Again, these tools are important because motion blur breathes life into your image. Leaving it out will lower your production value.Adobe Premiere Pro users understand the importance of motion blur far too well. Much to their frustration, motion blur is nowhere to be found in this powerful NLE. Even when searching the plethora of tools in their powerful Essential Graphics panel, there’s no option to enable motion blur. Why offer up so many tools for graphics and keyframing when you can’t add and manipulate one of the foundations of motion?Premiere Pro users needn’t fret, as there’s indeed an option to enable motion blur — just not a straightforward one. And, this option does give users a natural directional motion blur, without excessive keyframing and tweaking.Let’s take a step-by-step look at how to make it work by animating Premiere’s logo. How to Add Motion Blur in Adobe Premiere ProStep 1: Add the Transform EffectFirst, I’ll open up the Window > Effects panel. Next, I’ll navigate to the Video Effects > Distort subfolder. I’ll grab the Transform effect and drop it over my logo clip in the timeline.Step 2: Animate the PropertiesThe Transform effect gives me a number of keyframable properties, including many of the same attributes available in the Motion tab of the Effect Controls panel. For this example, I’ll animate the X position, making the logo move from side to side at a quick pace. Once animated, I’m ready to turn on the motion blur.Step 3: Adjust the Shutter AngleActivating the motion blur is as simple as deselecting Use Composition’s Shutter Angle, and then setting the Shutter Angle to whatever you want. Again, 180 degrees is the standard. Taking it higher will introduce more blur, while lowering it will reduce the blur. It’s important to remember that you must animate the properties in the Transform effect for the motion blur to work, not under the Motion tab.0° Shutter Angle 180° Shutter Angle360° Shutter AngleStep 4: Create a PresetCreating a preset will allow you to quickly apply motion blur on future clips — streamlining your workflow. To create one, right- or control-click on the Transform effect in the Effect Controls panel and select Save Preset. Name the preset and add a description, and your motion blur effect will now be waiting for you in the Presets folder of the Effects panel. There you have it — motion blur inside of Adobe Premiere Pro!Cover image via Willy Barton.Looking for more Premiere Pro tips? Rajat ChauhanIndia’s top archers are gearing up for the Incheon Asian Games, but one of them has a more hectic schedule than the others. Compound archer Rajat Chauhan will be the only Indian in action at the World Cup Final (September 5-7) in Lausanne, and a creditable performance there can boost his confidence going into the continental showdown.”I am the first Indian compound archer to have qualified for the season finale. As such, it is a big achievement for me and for the country,” Chauhan told Mail Today during a practice session at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium on Wednesday.”It means that I will miss the beginning of the 20-day preparatory camp ahead of the Asian Games. But since there was still a 10-day gap before the Games, I decided to go for the World Cup Final. I am in fine form and feel the probability of winning a medal in Lausanne is 70 per cent.”The top eight archers in each category, based on their results in the four World Cups, qualify for the season-ender. Chauhan was sixth in the World Cup rankings. The Indian compound archers have recently returned from a 10-day stint at the Salt Lake City in the United States, where they practised under the watchful eye of famous coach Dee Wilde. Chauhan feels the experience will stand the team in good stead.”There is not much difference between us and the other top archers in the world. Wilde just guided us on some finer points of the sport, and how to handle pressure in big tournaments,” he said.advertisementQuality of the equipment can make the vital difference in compound archery. “The facilities at Salt Lake City are top class, with every requirement of the archers available at one place. In India, we do not have one venue for a permanent camp. Tuning of the bow is crucial and the Americans do it best,” Chauhan said.Looking ahead to the Asian Games, he predicted India will return with a bagful of medals. India won three medals at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou. “Team events are our stronger suit with Korea and Iran our major challengers. We dominated at last year’s Asian Championships and that trend should continue. The three of us (Abhishek Chauhan and Sandeep Kumar being the other two) are as good as anyone around,” he added.
