Has your lab done the Mannequin Challenge yet

first_imgHillary Clinton did it on her campaign plane, hoping it would help her win. Cristiano Ronaldo undressed for it in his team’s locker room. Black Lives Matter activists turned it into a powerful statement about violence. And now the latest trend to sweep the internet has hit the world of science. Many labs are taking on the Mannequin Challenge, in which groups of people stand stock-still for the video camera—often in extreme poses—as if suddenly frozen in time. The video above comes from the Dong Research Group at the University of California, Irvine. Here’s how the Lawrence Livermore National Lab handled the challenge, and here’s a contribution from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. (The not-quite-safe-for-work music in the background is “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd, which has become the challenge’s preferred soundtrack.) Click to view the privacy policy.
